What is an Augumented Reality Game?
Also known by the abbreviation ARG, Augumented Reality Games are a type of media, are usually distributed cross-platform and designed to augment a person’s perception of reality. We aren’t talking about those smartphone apps that make cartoon puppies appear. By puppiteering social media, a “game master” can create an fictional, engrossing, innercommonunicative narrative through encouraging social communication amongst other players, real-time updates and having players complete real-world task. This can range from marketing sneakers to a political psy-op. Pretty effective for creating social change, but there are ethical concerns. Think Qanon.
